The Southwest Water Authority (SWA) Board of Directors, Management and Staff wish to thank Bill Sharff for his years of dedicated service and for his dynamic contributions to water education in North Dakota.
Sharff is retiring from his position at the North Dakota State Water Commission (SWC) as Director of North Dakota’s Water Education for Teachers (Project WET), which facilitates and promotes awareness, knowledge, exploration and stewardship of North Dakota’s water resources.
Sharff has provided steadfast leadership to the SWC, serving as Director of Project WET since 1990 and being involved with the Coalition for Conservation and Environmental Education since 1995. He was instrumental in the original development of SWA’s “Make a Splash” Water Festival and helped coordinate the efforts over the last 12 years. Sharff has developed, facilitated and conducted hundreds of instructional courses, workshops, teacher programs, youth water festivals, and other youth and special community family events – all to increase the knowledge of the youth and citizens of southwest North Dakota in our most precious resource – water.
